Opening Sequence Genre Selection
Over the course of this week I have conducted research on key aspects of certain film genres, such as musicals and thrillers. After serious consideration I have decided to produce my Final Task as a Thriller film. This is due to the fact I appeal, and enjoy, almost every aspect of the thriller film and my topic relates to the thriller film conventions. My final task will be based on an accident taking placing out on the ocean while a family is on vacation which matches with the idea of building suspense and it all unfolding during the climax. During the production process I also plan to follow other conventions. I will use editing techniques such as shot-reverse-shots and jump cuts, in addition to have suspenseful music and loud sound effects. However, I do not plan on following all of the conventions regarding the mis-en-scene. For instance, the final task will use bright colors as the topic is vacation, rather the standard of dark and gloomy colors.
